The most important secret for getting gigs is something you will not believe.
I’ve been called in to help with casting, and sitting in a casting room is incredible, because all people have to do is do the thing that’s requested. In an audition, somebody tells you to walk over here and say “I have fries.” Walk over there and say “I have fries.” That’s all they’re asking you to do. If you do that, you will be 90% of the way to getting the job.
I guarantee you they are seeing 70 people in a day, and three of them actually follow the instructions. They’re not supreme actors. They’re not amazing in any special way. They’re not going over the top. Those three people are the only three people that did the instructions.
Same for submissions and websites
It’s the same when you send a submission video, when you send a website, whatever. Give them the thing that they want. That’s it, and you’ll be above everybody else.
If you don’t know how to submit for something, you say, “How do I submit?” They tell you. You do it.
If they’re looking at your website, give them a website that is clear and shows who you are. Just honest and straightforward. Something professional. That’s all they want to see.
You will not believe how many people do not do the instructions. You will be way ahead.
